NTN will run a booth at the 12th Beijing International Automotive Exhibition “Auto China 2012” with the theme “NTN's innovative technologies for large steps toward a bright future” In addition to displays of next-generation EV system products, a large number of products that contribute to a lighter weight and higher efficiency will be on show at this exhibition. NTN's demonstration vehicle “Q'mo,” equipped with a range of EV system products, will be on stage conducting test drives, highlighting its special “Pivot turn” and “Lateral move” functionality. We look forward to seeing you at the event.

Main Next-generation EV System Products

In-Wheel Motor System Concept “Q'mo”

NTN will exhibit the “In-Wheel Motor system concept” combining a steering system featuring, a newly developed compact wheel-turning actuator and the In-Wheel Motor System for electric commuters.

“Q'mo,” a prototype of the compact two-seater, four-wheel electric commuter concept model developed to demonstrate the practicality and features of the system, will be on stage conducting test drives. Bear witness to the enjoyment and convenience of compact EVs afforded by the In-Wheel Motor System, including “Pivot turn” and “Lateral move.”

Electromechanical Brake System with Parking Brake

Integrating a parking brake function with an electric brake actuator by utilizing a planetary roller screw has achieved a more lightweight, compact and convenient design. The unit features a parking brake mechanism with a structure where the solenoid lock pin mounted to the housing slides in/out of the lock pin hole on the side of the internal gear.

Various automotive products

Hub bearing for severe environment

Also on display will be the hub bearing for severe environment, which improves protection against penetration of muddy water, resistance against load and shock, and resistance against fretting at low temperatures. The bearing is designed for use on unpaved roads often found in emerging markets and other regions.

Linear Type Electric Actuators

In addition to electric actuators for automobiles, the actuator can also be used in applications that require linear operation with the use of a motor. The actuator features an IC sensor to detect the stroke position directly from the output shaft. The rotation output of drive motors can be converted to linear movement with high level of response and thrust.

Light and High Efficiency Drive Shaft Exclusively for Rear Wheel Drive Cars

NTN studies show that torque loss can be lowered by 40%. Also features lightweight, compact CVJs developed exclusively for rear-wheel drive cars. Torque loss has been reduced by decreasing the amount of internal sliding friction for a high level of transmission efficiency.

Constant Velocity Steering Joint

Eliminates backlash in the direction of rotation for smooth operation. Providing a greater degree of freedom with the steering system layout allows for a wide range of joint angles from 0° to 48°, with the ability to transmit rotational force smoothly without any backlashes. Approximately 50% more compact and lighter than double Cardan joints.
