NTN's Transportable Independent Power Supply “N3 N-CUBE” Adopted as Bus Waiting AreaApril 28, 2023Press Release

Contribute to town development with eco-friendly and safe bus stop utilizing electricity from renewable energy

Transportable Independent Power Supply “N3 N-CUBE*1” developed by NTN Corporation (hereafter, NTN) was adopted as a bus waiting area in Yoshida Town, Haibara District, Shizuoka Prefecture. The bus waiting area is powered by “N3 N-CUBE” which generates electricity from 100% renewable energy of wind and solar light.

“N3 N-CUBE” is a transportable independent power supply that stores a compact wind turbine, solar panels, and storage batteries in a container, and can generate electricity from wind and solar light. As it is possible to customize the inside of containers, “N3 N-CUBE” can be used in a variety of applications as a facility that can operate with electricity derived from renewable energy.

The “N3 N-CUBE” adopted as a bus waiting area in Yoshida Town is equipped with bench, table, air conditioner, fan, LED lighting, Wi-Fi equipment, and outlet, as well as security camera that operates 24 hours a day. All the power required to operate various equipment is covered by electricity from “N3 N-CUBE.”

Aiming to create a town where everyone can go out easily, Yoshida Town is working on improving public transportation. Since it is possible to install eco-friendly and safe bus stop that operates with electricity derived from renewable energy, “N3 N-CUBE” was adopted as a bus waiting area at one place in the town.

Yoshida Town facing Suruga Bay is also promoting the development of town that is resilient to tsunami and disasters. In May 2022, a flood prevention center was open in coastal area of the town for the purpose of flood prevention activities and rescue activities in the event of a disaster, as well as storing disaster relief supplies. “N3 N-CUBE” was adopted as a power generator of the facility*2. The “N3 N-CUBE” adopted as the flood prevention center and the bus waiting area in the town are expected to be transported by truck in the event of local power outages to provide electricity.

In addition, “N3 N-CUBE” can be used in a variety of applications; it is used as a disaster prevention warehouse that can control temperature within the warehouse and eco toilets with a circulation type flush toilet and treatment tank*3. As to the eco toilet, the water used in toilets is filtered by treatment tank and circulated as recycled water. In addition the environmental contribution without wastewater discharged outside the toilet, it has been appreciated that it can be installed even in areas without infrastructures such as electricity and water supply. In April 2022, it was installed at Tado Sanjyo Park in Kuwana City, Mie Prefecture, and in March 2023, it was newly installed at the climbing exit of Mt. Miune in Matsusaka City, Mie Prefecture.

In recent years, as companies and municipalities are conducting activities for carbon neutrality and SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals), various facilities are operated with electricity derived from renewable energy.

NTN will continue to promote application development of “N3 N-CUBE,” which operates with electricity derived from 100% renewable energy, and contribute to the decarbonization of companies and municipalities, and the promotion of the use of renewable energy.
