[The industry's first! Sliding nut and screw that integrates brass and plastic for superior load and wear resistance]

NTN Corporation (hereafter, NTN) has developed the “Plastic Sliding Nut and Screw with High Load Capacity” that consists of a brass nut overmolded with a plastic sliding material which dramatically improves load resistance.

The plastic sliding nut and screw is capable of sliding without using oil or grease which makes it ideal for use in medical equipment, semi-conductor manufacturing equipment and food machinery. Typically a plastic sliding nut and screw consists of a plastic nut and stainless steel screw shaft. Since the plastic nut has a low-rigidity, its use is limited to light loads.

NTN's latest design, the “Plastic Sliding Nut and Screw with High Load Capacity” uses a highly rigid brass nut with a thin overmolding sliding material based PPS resin covering its threads. In addition to both load resistance and self-lubrication, the integrated design prevents heat build-up by utilizing the heat dissipation characteristics of brass which improves the durability of the product.

The new “Plastic Sliding Nut and Screw with High Load Capacity” will be on display at the “26th Japan International Machine Tool Fair (JIMTOF2012)” held at Tokyo Big Sight between November 1st and 6th with product sales widely expected in clean environment applications as well as applications in transport equipment for machine tool peripheral equipment and measuring equipment.
