NTN Corporation (hereafter, NTN) will exhibit at “RoboDEX – The 9th Robot Development & Application Expo” held from January 22 to 24, in Tokyo Big Sight, Tokyo, Japan.

This event is a specialized robot exhibition where robot development technologies including the latest robots and peripheral equipment gather. This time, approximately 1,800 companies from Japan and abroad, that handle robots and AGVs (Automated Guided Vehicles) used in factories and logistics sites, as well as parts and materials for robots, will exhibit and showcase their latest technology.

Under the concept of “NTN's Proposal for Factory Automation & IoT Solution,” NTN will introduce products such as the Wrist Joint Module “i-WRIST” that automates appearance inspections conventionally performed by humans with high speed and smooth movements, and the Elliptical Vibration Linear Feeder “Crossdrive Linear Feeder” that has a unique structure to achieve both the maximum transportation speed of 18 m/min which is the industry's highest level as a linear feeder and reduction in air consumption. In addition, NTN will introduce software and devices that help detect bearing abnormalities such as the Sensor Integrated Rolling Bearing “Talking Bearing” and the “NTN Portable Vibroscope” as products and services that provide total support for bearing life cycle management from bearing usage to maintenance and operation.

We look forward to seeing you at the event.

Main exhibits

Wrist Joint Module “i-WRIST”

This compact positioning module achieves a wide range of angle movement while saving space. This can move smoothly like human wrist at high speed to perform minor position (angle) changes, which vertically articulated robots are not good at doing.

By combining it with other robots and attaching end effectors such as camera, lightning, dispenser, and cleaning nozzle, it can contribute to automation, improvement in efficiency, and saving labor of various processes such as appearance inspection, grease dispensing, and cleaning.

Elliptical Vibration Linear Feeder “Crossdrive Linear Feeder”

This product achieves the maximum transportation speed 18 m/min (approximately three times compared to the conventional product) which is the industry's highest transportation speed as a linear feeder with the unique structure. The structure has the vibration-generating leaf springs independently placed in horizontal and vertical directions to generate the high amplitude and frequency vibration required for high speed transportation and cancels the pitching motion*1 that obstructs workpiece transportation. The amount of air used as a linear feeder can be reduced up to 1/5*2 compared to the conventional product, contributing to improved productivity and carbon neutrality in the manufacturing industry.

At this exhibition, we will show the demonstration to compare the difference in transportation speed with the conventional product.

“NTN Portable Vibroscope”

NTN Portable Vibroscope is a device that can measure facility vibrations, and detect abnormalities and damaged positions of bearings. It can be used simply by attaching to the facilities with magnets, screws, etc. Vibration data can be analyzed and managed with Apple iOS smart devices installed the dedicated application. Early detection of abnormalities contributes to stable plant operation, predictive maintenance, and periodic inspections.
