NTN will run a booth at “Automotive Engineering Exposition 2016” with the theme “New Technology Transforms the Next.”
The booth will feature exhibits electronic module products for automated driving and lower fuel consumption, as well as the newly developed “Electric Motor and Actuator” Series and “New In-wheel Motor System.”
Other displays will include the “Auto Tensioner with the Variable Damper Mechanism for ISG-Equipped Engine,” “Lightweight Driveshaft for FR vehicle,” “Low Torque Seal Ring” and other products for reducing automobile fuel consumption and increasing efficiency, and a wide range of the latest, next-generation technology for resolving various issues.
We look forward to seeing you at the event.
Main exhibits
Electric Motor and ActuatorCombine its core technologies of bearings and ball screw product technology with motor design technology and electrical control technology for controlling vehicles to develop the “Electric Motor and Actuator” series. The product lineup features common components and specifications, and available with variations in shape and size, which eliminates the need for individual designs for a shorter development time. |

New In-wheel Motor SystemFeatures a combination of parallel axial reduction gear and outer ring rotating hub for lighter and more compact design compared to the conventional product. The thickness of the In-wheel Motor part has been cut back by using a motor shaft with an offset layout to the vehicle shaft and keeping its width within the wheel, allowing it to be mounted without changing the vehicle's suspension or steering structure, for a reduction in development cost and time. |
Auto Tensioner with the Variable Damper Mechanism for ISG-Equipped EngineMaking the tensioner available for ISG-equipped engines where the alternator is also used as the starter helps to adjust the belt tension automatically, from tighter when starting the engine to looser when the engine is operating. This improves reliability when starting, and reduces fuel consumption when driving. The tensioner also contributes to better engine efficiency of vehicles equipped with idling stop systems. |
Lightweight Driveshaft for FR vehicleOperating angles required for rear applications have been restricted, to optimize the shape of main components and achieve a more compact size. The use of hollow shafts with wall thickness reduced as far as possible and compact boot helped to reduce the weight to 2.2 kg each, approximately 30% lighter than conventional driveshafts. |
Low Torque Seal RingThe seal rings for automotive transmissions that deliver low torque, low wear and fewer oil leaks by optimizing the plastic composite material composition, as well as incorporating a world first V-shaped lubrication groove on the surface of the seal rings. |
