Company-wide environmental performance and targets
Our Group actively promotes environmental conservation practices aimed at achieving business operations that are in harmony with the environment. In fiscal year 2024, we achieved many of our goals and contributed to reducing environmental impact. We will continue working toward further improvements and achieving new environmental goals moving forward.
FY2024 company-wide environmental performance
In fiscal year 2024, our Group achieved 9 out of 11 environmental conservation activity targets that had been set.
One of the goals that we failed to meet was the reduction of water consumption, which was caused by inadequate management of cooling circulation water supply valves at some business sites. In response to this, we have established new management and operation rules.
In addition to this, the recycling rate at overseas sites did not reach the target. However, this was due to waste generated from the closure of some business sites. In fiscal year 2025, we will continue our efforts to improve across all facilities.

Environmental management system
Our Group has introduced an Environmental Management System to systematically and effectively promote environmental conservation activities. Through this system, we ensure continuous improvement of environmental performance and compliance with laws and regulations, working to solve specific environmental issues such as realizing a decarbonized society and transitioning to a circular economy.
Environmental management organization
Our Group has obtained third-party certification for Environmental Management Systems (ISO14001) globally. Through this, we comply with environmental laws and regulations in each country and aim for continuous improvement of environmental performance. In Japan, we have obtained certification using the multi-site method (Taira Forging Co., Ltd. has obtained certification independently), and under the top management of the responsible executive officer, all business sites work together to achieve environmental targets.
■Environmental management organization chart
ISO14001 Assessment and Registration
In principle, our business sites acquire certification for Environmental Management Systems (ISO 14001) within three years of operation, and all existing business sites globally have acquired certification. New business sites will gradually acquire certification in accordance with the above principle. In Japan, we acquire certification* using the multi-site method (Taira Forging Co., Ltd. has obtained certification independently). Overseas, certification is acquired at each business site.

Raising environmental awareness
The domestic Group distributes ”Environmental Policy Cards” to all employees (including personnel working at business sites such as resident contractors, temporary staff, and subcontractors who work at business sites) to raise environmental awareness. Additionally, during Environment Month in June each year, we: ①conduct environmental education, ②conduct environmental patrols, ③publish environmental news, and ④display an Environment Month poster from the Ministry of the Environment. As an example, Nagano Works (Minowa Town, Kamiina Country, Nagano Prefecture) published its own ”Company Newsletter (Environment Monthly News)” to deepen its understanding of green procurement.

Emergency response
The NTN Group has established a company-wide emergency response system to ensure rapid and appropriate responses during emergencies. At each business site, we work to improve employee response capabilities through regular drills and education, and implement measures to minimize environmental impact.
Emergency response drill
At Kuwana Works (Kuwana City, Mie Prefecture), on October 30, 2024, we conducted a study session and practical training session to learn about responses to oil leakage incidents. Forty-five employees participated in the study session, where internal instructors explained ”recent leakage cases,” ”oil leakage response equipment,” and ”oil leakage response procedures.”
Participants provided feedback such as ”It was beneficial to understand the leakage pathways to rivers,” ”It would have been helpful to include an explanation of the oil-water separation process,” and ”I would like to learn more about specific cases within the Works.” The management department plans to enhance the content of the study sessions based on this feedback and consider revising the procedure manuals as necessary.
In the practical drill, employees actually entered the river and conducted training using leakage response kits. Moving forward, we aim to further encourage participation by field workers so that they can respond quickly.
The NTN Group will continue conducting such drills and strive to respond quickly and appropriately even in emergency situations.
■Oil leakage response practical drill conducted in nearby rivers (Kuwana Works)
Major leakage/Spill incidents
In fiscal year 2024, no major leakage or spill incidents occurred within the NTN Group. We will continue to thoroughly implement measures to prevent leakage and spills of oil and environmentally hazardous substances, and strive to prevent environmental pollution incidents.

Response to Leakage and Spill incidents
In the event that a leakage or spill incident occurs, we will promptly take the following responses. Through these initiatives, we strive for compliance with environmental laws and regulations and environmental conservation.
■Incident response and Prevention of recurrence initiatives
| Item | Initiatives |
|---|---|
| Implementation of Emergency measures | We immediately implement emergency measures to prevent the expansion of damage. |
| Investigation of cause and Measures for the prevention of recurrence | We thoroughly investigate the cause of incidents and implement measures to prevent recurrence. |
| Procedure review | Following incidents, we review and improve similar procedures. |
| Implementation of Emergency training | We regularly conduct emergency drills to strengthen response capabilities. |
| Horizontal deployment within the group | We share lessons learned from accidents throughout the Group to prevent similar incidents. |
Environmental accounting
In order to efficiently promote environmental conservation, the NTN Group in Japan quantifies the costs and economic benefits of environmental conservation by classifying them based on guidelines drawn up by the Ministry of the Environment. Environmental conversation costs for fiscal year 2024 were approximately 41.99 billion yen, including research and development of eco-friendly products, and the economic benefits of environmental conservation measures were approximately 13.64 billion yen.
