Intra-company Child Daycare Center “BEAR Kids Land Kuwana” Opened in Kuwana, Mie PrefectureMarch 27, 2018Press Release

Supporting NTN employees raising children. Second facility in NTN after Iwata in Shizuoka Prefecture

NTN Corporation (hereafter, NTN) will open the intra-company child daycare center, “BEAR Kids Land,” near Kuwana Works (Kuwana City, Mie Prefecture) in April 2018, with the aim of supporting NTN employees raising children with peace of mind while working. This is the second intra-company child daycare center in NTN following another that was opened in Iwata (Iwata City, Shizuoka Prefecture)*1 in April 2009.

With more issues throughout society becoming evident in recent years like the increasing number of children waiting for admission to child daycare centers, coupled with the growing need for a working environment that encourages female employees to maximize their abilities, NTN has decided to open the “BEAR Kids Land Kuwana” child daycare center in the Kuwana area in Mie Prefecture, with the aim of easing the childcare burden for employees, and allowing a balance with work.

The new “BEAR Kids Land Kuwana” was constructed at a location seven minutes' walk from Kuwana Works (Kuwana City, Mie Prefecture), to reduce the time for employees to take to and pick up their children from the child daycare center, and support childcare. In addition to monthly childcare services, the center will also be open for extended time services after office hours.

NTN has established action plans based on the government's “Act on Advancement of Measures to Support Raising Next-Generation Children,”*2 and is introducing various initiatives related to the business environment and company systems to create a work environment where female employees can maintain their career without stopping working after childbirth or childcare. Past initiatives include a reemployment system for female employees who stopped work for reasons such as childbirth and childcare (Mom back system). With more companies taking steps to change the way to work in recent years, some NTN business sites are implementing trial telecommuting initiatives that suits each employee's lifestyle to achieve a better work-life balance.

As NTN expands its business globally, initiatives will continue being implemented to create a more comfortable workplace environment for not only females, but also for employees of all different cultures regardless of gender, age, career or other factors.
