Happy New Year to you all. I wish you all the best for the upcoming year.

NTN has started the Medium-term Management Plan “NTN 100” in April 2015, and been implementing “Transformation” through the major themes for our 100th anniversary in March next year and NTN’s continuous growth for the next 100 years.

With 2017 being the final year of “NTN 100,” we will mainly focuses on the themes as follows.

1. Expansion of the aftermarket business

In the aftermarket business, thanks to efforts such as mobile activities, engineering services, enhancement of product lineup and utilization of IT, the global market share has been expanding steadily. This year, we will continue expanding sales, and focus on further increase in market share, particularly overseas.

2. Establishment of the new business foundation

We will continue to develop business in new areas with utilization of our comprehensive capabilities of R&D, production technology and sales NTN has developed so far. In the natural energy business, “Hybrid Street Light” that combines a compact wind turbine with a solar power generator was released last year. This year, “NTN Micro Hydro Turbine” compact hydroelectric generator with high-efficiency power generation and the 10 kW class “Compact Wind Turbine” will be released. In the EV business, efforts focus on the commercialization of products which have tremendous growth predicted in the future such as the “Electric Motor and Actuator” and the In-wheel Motor System, which are applicable to the electrification of vehicles. In the four fields that cover robot-related business and service, solution business, we will establish the new business foundation that supports NTN for the next 100 years.

3. Strengthening a profit structure of the driveshaft business

In the driveshaft business that is one of our core products for the automotive market, by revising the designs and materials, and even “Monozukuri” thoroughly, we have been proposing high value-added products to customers. Last year, mass-production of driveshafts using a new manufacturing technology called Electron Beam Welding began. This year, we continue to realize system to be able to respond to flexibly demand fluctuation and strengthen a profit structure by standardizing component parts as well as promoting global procurement in terms of material.

This year is the final year of “NTN 100.” We will certainly implement each theme together to accelerate “Transformation.”

In closing, I would like to wish the very best health to you all and your family into the New Year.
