Announcement of Construction of New Plant at NTN Fukuroi Corp.February 5, 2014Press Releases

NTN Corporation (hereafter, NTN) hereby announces that NTN Fukuroi Corporation (hereafter, NTN Fukuroi) that produces constant velocity joints (hereafter, CVJ) has started construction of a new plant.

1. Aim of construction of the new plant

NTN has been reorganizing its global production system as part of the two-year mid-term management plan “Revival 2014” that began in April 2013. Based on the ‘on local site with local materials by local personnel’ concept, NTN is expanding production overseas that are experiencing increased demand with the aim of establishing a production system that is not easily affected by exchange rates. Meanwhile, production of product types that are mass-produced in Japan is being shifted to newly established subsidiaries as part of risk diversification and productivity improvements with the state-of-the-art ‘Monozukuri.’

NTN Fukuroi was established in 2006 as a production plant for CVJ. Equipped with the latest in ‘Monozukuri,’ including the use of robots and processing methods that do not use oil, the company manufactures products for Japanese car makers as an environmentally friendly plant incorporating wind and solar power generation in a proactive manner.

Construction of a second plant at NTN Fukuroi was finalized as part of reorganization of the production system in Japan to be able to respond in a flexible manner to demand in Japan in a time that demand for automobiles increases worldwide.
