Announcement of Construction of New Plant at NTN Hakui CorporationMarch 14, 2012Press Releases

NTN Corporation (hereafter, NTN) hereby announces that it will construct a new plant at NTN Hakui Corporation. (hereafter, NTN Hakui), which covers turning processes for industrial machinery bearings, in order to increase production capacity and provide a more integrated production system in the Noto region.

1.Aim of construction of the new plant

NTN has been expanding business in growing markets such as China, Southeast Asia, and also focusing on the industrial machinery business in particular, in line with the “Global Advance 2013” three-year medium-term management that began in April 2011. Until now, industrial machinery bearings had been manufactured in the Kuwana region of Mie Prefecture in Japan, however production also began in the Noto region of Ishikawa Prefecture from 2007 as part of a risk diversion strategy, and as a means of increasing production capacity.

NTN Hakui covers the turning process, which is a pre-process for industrial machinery bearings, with finished products supplied to the Kuwana region in Mie Prefecture. Construction of the new plant building at NTN Hakui has been timed with NTN Noto Corporation (hereafter, NTN Noto), which is expected to start operating in March with its increased production capacity and bearing products will be supplied to NTN Noto and NTN HoudatsuShimizu Corporation (hereafter, NTN HoudatsuShimizu), NTN's finished product plants in the Noto region.

With NTN Noto and the adjacent plant that it acquired in January, the new plant which will be constructed at NTN Hakui, and NTN HoudatsuShimizu and NTN Shika that are already in operation, NTN is working at establishing an integrated production system for industrial machinery bearings in the Noto region, and improving productivity and cost competitiveness.
