Effects of Earthquake and Tsunami on JapanMarch 22, 2011Press Releases

The NTN Group's operations are continuing as usual after the 2011 Tohoku Earthquake and Tsunami in Japan.

Immediately after the earthquake we confirmed the well-being of all employees of the NTN Group and their families and now we are making every effort to provide assistance for the restoration of the affected parts of Japan.

The current situation of the NTN Group is as follows:

1. Damage due to the earthquake

(1) Human casualties/injuries
No casualties or injuries in the NTN Group.

(2) Production
No impact on production bases in the NTN Group; operations are continuing as usual.
Due to the rolling blackouts, transportation limitations, and other collateral factors, however, occasional disruptions may occur in distribution and other areas.

2. Assistance for the Afflicted Area and its Residents

We will donate funds as listed below to assist in relief work for those affected by the earthquake and to help rebuild the impacted areas.

(1) 100 million yen (approx. US$1.25 million, € 885 thousand) donated by NTN Corporation
(2) 1.5 million yen (approx. US$19 thousand, € 13 thousand) donated by NTN Executives
(3) Funds are being collected from individual employees in the NTN Group around the world

We would like to extend our sympathies to all who have been affected by the earthquake and express our deepest condolences to those who lost loved ones.

Aftershocks are still occurring in many areas and the situation still requires much vigilance. We pray for the safety of everyone affected and for a speedy recovery.
