Optimized bearing design for major improvements to load resistance, load capacity and sealing performance!

NTN Corporation (hereafter, NTN) has developed the high load capacity “ULTAGE^*1 Sealed Four row Tapered Roller Bearing” for Rolling Mill Roll-necks by optimizing the seal design and internal bearing design to deliver a high sealing and the world's highest level of load resistance.

Bearings for rolling mill roll-necks at iron and steel facilities require the utmost reliability as they are subjected to extreme conditions during operation, including vibrations, shocks and heavy loads, combined with the effects of cooling water, dust and other contaminants.

To combat this, NTN has made improvements to the internal design over conventional sealed four row tapered roller bearings^*2). Together with a uniform bearing rolling elements contact surface pressure for outer loads and an optimum design for a higher load capacity, the resulting product has now delivered the world's highest level of load resistance. A more compact seal design has also led to major improvements to sealing performance.

The newly developed “ULTAGE Sealed Four row Tapered Roller Bearing” meets the high load capacity, high load resistance and high sealing performance required of bearings for rolling mill roll-necks, and is available in 19 different variations with outer diameters ranging from φ300 to φ850. The new bearing will be incorporated into global sales activities in areas such as Japan and emerging markets.

*1 ULTAGE is the name of NTN's new generation of bearings, created by NTN combining the terms "ULTIMATE" and "STAGE", symbolizing that the product is suited to a range of applications in different arenas.
