For production and inspection equipment of the 10th generation of liquid crystal glass substrate

NTN to Launch “Extra Large Size Precision XY Table”

Provides high speed, high definition and shorter installation time


NTN Corporation (NTN) will begin to sell new precision positioning equipment, an extra large size precision XY table, in May this year. This product is for the 10th generation of liquid crystal glass substrate, which is at present the largest size.

The sizes of glass substrates are getting larger and larger, and the 10th generation (2,850mm × 3,050mm) will be adapted soon. Accordingly, larger production and inspection equipment for this generation is required. However, smooth installation and positioning accuracy have been issues in the past. This is because transportation of such a long stroke positioning equipment when completely assembled is restricted, due to vehicle width regulation laws (Road Trucking Vehicle Law). Reassembly of equipment after delivering to production plants is also an issue.

This new extra large size precision XY table has a longer stroke than conventional product and uses new methods for the separation and joint structure. It also has superior reproducibility and makes high precision positioning possible even after reassembly.

NTN is a highly regarded among panel manufacturers due to the production and sales of laser repair equipment for the 6th to 8th generation substrates. In addition, NTN has applied downsizing and precision technologies acquired through past experience to large table products and supplied to liquid crystal producers and inspectors in the past. This new product is not only another XY driving mechanism in NTN's product line up, but will meet a wide range of large sized glass substrate production / inspection demands.

This new product will be on exhibition at “The 18th fine tech. Japan” to be held on April 16 to 18 at the Tokyo Big Site.
