New Series product for low price small cars in BRIC/LCC markets
Development of “V series constant velocity joint (CVJ)”

NTN Corporation (hereafter NTN) has developed a “V (Value) series constant velocity joint” with superior cost performance. The V series will target drive shafts for low price cars in newly developing markets where demands are expected to increase. (Hereafter, constant velocity joint referred as CVJ)

NTN has been developing and marketing the small size/light weight and high efficiency E series CVJ with conventional BJ, DOJ and TJ joints. In recent years, along with the increase of demands for low price cars in newly developing countries, needs for a CVJ with superior cost-performance is increasing. V series CVJ is developed utilizing the high technologies of NTN as a specialized manufacturer of CVJ. While maintaining the same basic function as conventional product, the cost performance of V series has been improved with (1) Reduction in size and weight by internal design optimization, (2) Substantial reduction of machined parts by near-net-shape manufacturing, and (3) Reduction of the number of components by an internal configuration change. NTN will be marketing VBJ, VDJ and VTJ of V series CVJ in addition to current BJ, DOJ and TJ.

- VBJ and VDL
While the basic structures are the same as those of current BJ and DOJ, down sizing and weight reductions are achieved by advancing technologies that reduce internal friction. The advancement in technology was acquired following the development of the E series and internal design optimization. In addition, the tracks of inner and outer races are forged in near net shape, resulting in substantial reduction of machined parts.
- VTJ
The number of components are substantially reduced by applying a new configuration to internal parts, based on the world's smallest / lightest E series TJ (ETJ). In addition, near-net-shape forging is applied to each part, resulting in reduction of machined parts.

In markets such as BRICs, price competition on vehicles will become more important. In response to these needs, NTN will be offering the V series CVJ as products with superior cost performance to customers globally.
