Eco-Package Precision Bearings are Environmentally-Friendly And User-Friendly

NTN Corporation will introduce the Eco-Package Precision Bearing in April 2005. Created for the Ultage Series (combination of "ultimate" and "stage") machine tool precision bearings, these bearings eliminate the need for customers to remove the protective rust proofing oil prior to installation in their equipment.

Conventional machine tool precision bearings are coated with rustproofing oil before shipment to prevent the development of rust prior to installation. This means that customers must chemically remove the rustproofing oil before using the bearings. It also requires specially controlled clean-room facilities to maintain the cleanliness of the bearings. The entry of foreign matter in the bearing inner section during cleaning can cause premature damage to bearings. This requires that customers must pay particular attention to their cleaning operations and purity controls.

Eco-Package Precision Bearings eliminate the need for rust proofing oil cleaning processes and cleaning oil purity controls, making it both environmentally and user friendly.

Eco-Package Precision Bearings come with spindle oil made with outstanding rust proofing additives on the bearing surface. The exterior is specially packed with a vaporizing rust proofing film for shipping. The rust proofing guarantee period is 1 year and the 10% higher cost is due to the increase in process time and the use of vaporizing rust proofing film.

Precision bearings that eliminate cleaning will first appear on angular contact ball bearings used in oil lubrication, with sales starting this April.
