NTN Corporation (hereafter, NTN) will exhibit at the “31st Mechanical Components & Technology Expo [Tokyo]” to be held at Tokyo Big Sight from July 1 to 3. This event is one of the 12 specialized exhibitions within the 38th Manufacturing World Tokyo—one of the largest manufacturing trade shows in Japan—and features mechanical components and processing technologies.

As demand grows for smaller, quieter, and more energy-efficient machinery, NTN is developing composite material products using sintered metals and resins to address these challenges. Under the theme of “Pioneer of Sliding Bearings,” NTN will showcase a range of products that deliver quietness, compact design, and long operating life, and explore new applications.

NTN will exhibit hydrodynamic bearings capable of both forward and reverse rotation*1, eliminating the need to confirm rotational direction during assembly and contributing to improved quietness and energy efficiency compared to groove-less bearings. Also the world's smallest hydrodynamic bearing, “Hydrodynamic BEARPHITE,*2” with an inner diameter of 0.6 mm is to be displayed. This bearing achieves excellent quietness while maintaining a compact and lightweight design and supporting high-speed rotation, contributing to the miniaturization of fan motors. Visitors can experience these products firsthand by handling them and experiencing the lightness of rotation and differences in performance. In addition, NTN will showcase a variety of products using sintered metals and resins. These include plastic sliding screws with features such as quietness and greaseless performance, as well as aluminum composite-type plastic sliding screws offering excellent load capacity, durability, and heat dissipation. This demonstrates NTN's ability to meet a wide range of needs.

Through this exhibition, NTN will provide opportunities for visitors to experience the advantages of its composite material technologies firsthand and explore new applications through direct communication. We look forward to seeing you at the event.

Main exhibits

Fluid dynamic bearing capable of forward and reverse Rotation

This fluid dynamic bearing achieves low torque rotation by optimizing the surface texturing of the bearing's inner diameter, improving oil film formation immediately after startup. It is capable of both forward and reverse rotation, eliminating the need to confirm the rotational direction during assembly. Compared to oil-impregnated sintered bearings without hydrodynamic pressure grooves, it features excellent quietness, low vibration, and low torque. It contributes to improved quietness and energy efficiency of compact motors and actuators, as well as reducing customers' manufacturing costs.

World's smallest hydrodynamic bearing “Hydrodynamic BEARPHITE”

The world's smallest hydrodynamic bearing, “Hydrodynamic BEARPHITE,” has an inner diameter of 0.6 mm. Using sintered material incorporating fine graphite powder, it achieves stable lubrication, enabling a compact and lightweight design, excellent quietness, and high-speed rotation. It contributes to improved quietness and long operating life of micro fan motors used in small-sized mobile devices such as high-performance smartphones and wearable devices.
