NTN Corporation (hereafter, NTN) will exhibit for the first time at the “2024 Japan Die Casting Congress & Exposition” to be held in PACIFICO Yokohama, Kanagawa, Japan, from November 14 to 16.

This event is an exposition held every other year by Japan Die Casting Association, where the die casting manufactures and related companies show new technologies and products, facilities, and devices, etc. In the previous event, held in 2022, 159 companies from Japan and overseas exhibited and welcomed about 19,000 visitors.

In the NTN booth, we will introduce Wrist Joint Module “i-WRIST” that enables high speed positioning with a smooth movement like a human wrist for image inspection of aluminum die casting products. We will display a demonstration machine of the appearance inspection device with a camera applied to “i-WRIST” and show how it inspects aluminum die casting products for surface flaws and processing defects inside a tapped hole.

In addition, we will hold a seminar at 15:40 (JST) on November 14 at PACIFICO Yokohama Annex Hall F202 to introduce the reasons why “i-WRIST” can inspect at high speed and examples of application to the image inspection device for aluminum die casting products.

We are looking forward to seeing you.

Main exhibits

Wrist Joint Module “i-WRIST”

This compact positioning module achieves a wide range of angle movement while saving space. This can move smoothly like human wrist at high speed to perform minor position (angle) changes, which vertically articulated robots are not good at doing.

The maximum weight capacity is 3 kg. It adapts to various mounting postures including upward, sideways, and inclined directions. By attaching end effectors such as camera, lightning, dispenser, and cleaning nozzle, it can contribute to automation, improvement in efficiency, and saving labor of various processes such as appearance inspection, grease dispensing, and cleaning.
