Business activities and environmental impact
The NTN Group works on reducing environmental impact in all processes ranging from design and development to logistics. Part of these efforts involves quantifying and working to reduce all of the inputs to manufacturing processes (raw materials, energy, chemical (PRTR) substances and water) and outputs from manufacturing processes (atmospheric emissions, wasteproducts, chemical (PRTR) substances and wastewater).

Environmental Accounting
To ensure work on environmental preservation is done efficiently, the domestic Group companies have quantified investment/development costs and benefits as they are classified in guidelines released by the Ministry of the Environment. FY 2018 environmental preservation costs (including eco-friendly product R&D costs) were about 6.5 billion yen, and economic benefits from environmental preservation measures were about 840 million yen.
