NTN Provides Support for “Ise-Shima Summit” and Donates Street Light to Mie PrefectureNovember 26, 2015Press Release

NTN Corporation (hereafter, NTN) will provide support to the “Ise-Shima Summit,” the meeting of Group of Seven industrialized nations, that will be held in Ise-Shima in Mie Prefecture, Japan on May 26 and 27, 2016, and donated the “Wind Solar Hybrid Street Light” featuring NTN's proprietary compact wind turbine and solar light power generator.

NTN embarked on the new 3-year medium-term management plan “NTN 100” from April 2015, and “Manage Growth” for concentrating management resources on strategic areas was raised as one of its basic policies. A focus has been placed on “Develop Businesses in New Areas” as one of the major themes of this policy. Compact wind turbines* were developed that use innovative and highly efficient “blade” technology as part of business utilizing natural energy sources.

The device uses blade technology developed by Global Energy Co., Ltd., and starts rotating with slight blow of wind and keeps rotating for a while after the wind stops. This allows power to be generated efficiently, with more than double the amount of power generation possible compared to conventional compact wind turbines. The proprietary blade shape makes no noise when it is rotating, as its design does not disturb the air around it or generate any swooshing sounds.

With development of the “Wind Solar Hybrid Street Light” featuring NTN's proprietary compact wind turbine and solar light power generator complete, NTN will donate 10 of these devices to Mie Prefecture with a hope of making the Ise-Shima Summit a success and bring ongoing results to Mie Prefecture.

NTN was established in Kuwana City, Mie Prefecture in 1918 and has grown with the local community to become a global company. With such a history, NTN is providing support to the “Ise-Shima Summit” that will be held in Mie Prefecture.
